the waggle wand makes sense because the PS2 is what the Wii is competing against. if eyetoy came with every PS2 then the two would have been identical anyway, considering i was playing most of the same games more than two years before the Wii came out. funny that.
Thank you so much, Kiwi. if i ever get the money i'll come down to Canterbury and thank you in person

well surely you don't think the Wii is competing against the 360 and the PS3! Nintendo have said they are New generation, just so that noone thinks they are next generation. the closest console in terms of ability and content is the PS2, so that's the machine Sony will use to compete with the Wii...

The Wii isn't competing with PS2, despite what you want to tell yourself, the Wii is a next gen console.
Nintendo saying it wasn't competing with 360 and PS3 was just them being coy incase the Wii was a huge failure, and Sony and Xbox saynig they aren't competing with the Wii is their way of Saving face in light of the Wii crushing everyone sales-wise. Just...get over your ego and move on. The PS2 is only competing with the next gen consoles in a pure commercial sense, in that you could buy one instead of the others. But as far as classifications go, PS2 is a last gen console with the best life span of those 3 (GCN, Xbox). If any console isn't competing against anyone it's the PS2 because it is a last gen console and it's time in the sun has come and gone. It's just enjoying ancillary sales now in its twilight because it's so damn successful and the next generation wasn't enough to slow down the momentum it had.
The next generation is Wii, PS3 and Xbox. Graphical prowess isn't the indicator of a next gen console, it's the time it's released.
with that said, I hope they don't release a wand for the PS2. Really isn't necessary.

AC/DC promoting Rock Band is huge.
What happened to the last Parasite Eve game they were making? I thought they were doing a remake of the original. What happened with that?Welcome to the USSA.

You know, I was really hoping my boy Colin and Lali already made it clear but *sigh* I tried to keep just to the topic here for you guys but duty calls.
Why did they call it new gen and not next gen? Simple, what they did was new. Ta-da. A complete deviation from the continued direction of console successors. Does that make it last gen? Next gen? X gen? Or any other marketing speak?
Plain and simply put for the x number of times, a generation is based on release date and each new successor to a companies flagship product. If all 3 companies lost their fucking marbles and released a new console tomorrow, we'd have a whole new generation.
Let em simplify in human genealogical terms. When mommy spit you out, you became the next generation. If your uncle had a kid 10 years before you were born.....you're still part of that generation.

naive. the excuse was as stated by yourself, but the real reason was that they dare not tempt any real comparison. i suppose the 360 was called the 360 because of the reason MS gave LOLLOLOOL. it was to get 3 in the name. xbox2 would have been seen weaker than PS3. Nintendo are clever, very clever and a slick business. they are great with wool and mirrors.

Naive? WTF. I just gave you the definition for generation and you're still denying it. I told you explanation they gave was damn marketing speak. "It's new gen"....so then what else could be considered part of this "new gen"?

hahahah, christ.
So I was staring off at my wall and came up with a pretty darn good analogy.
Lets say you have Diet Funky Fresh with Lime. A year later, another company comes out with Diet Ghetto Fabulous with Lime. They may have come out at a different time and probably have a different flavor, but because they are within the same market of "diet soda with lime" they are competing. If someone wants a diet soda with lime, and they pick ghetto fab over funky fresh, that is a potential sale lost. That is competition.
